Mr. Stephen Ssenkaaba

A Ph.D. candidate in communication and media studies at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. His research examines the socio-cultural implications of digital technologies for journalism in Africa, with a focus on how journalists in indigenous language media organizations perceive and adapt these technologies to their lived social and cultural experiences. His doctoral dissertation explores how journalists in indigenous language media organizations incorporate digital technologies in their work. Some of his research is under review in the Digital Journalism and the International Journal of Communication journals. He has presented his research at the International Communication Association (ICA) and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) conferences and served as a reviewer at both conferences. He is the incoming International Liaison for the Language & Social Interaction Division of the International Communication Association (ICA). Stephen worked as a journalist at The New Vision newspaper in Uganda.
